Jazz - Instrumental

All Ages - with some instrumental experience​

The Summer Music Jazz Program is open to all ages, but is intended for players looking to advance their skills. This course is improvisation focused, in a jazz combo setting. Students are encouraged to have a good knowledge of scales (for wind players), and chord changes/styles for the rhythm section. Jazz veterans will continue with a review of the basics and continued study of applications to chord, styles and repertoire. Students work towards performing selections at the Jazz Gala at the end of the week.

A wide range of instruments interests can be accommodated:

• All woodwinds, brass, strings: violin, viola, cello and guitar. 

• Upright bass, electric bass, drum set and piano 

 

The Jazz Gala is Friday afternoon - Location and time TBA.

Classes begin at 9:00 AM and run until 3:45 PM for the week. 

Cost: $370 per student
